Silvester Horne Institute offers a variety of well-equipped spaces suitable for a wide range of leisure, sport, and community activities. Whether you’re planning a class, hosting an event, or running a regular group, our flexible facilities can be tailored to your needs. 

We provide a straightforward and adaptable pricing structure for all customers. Online booking requests receive a prompt quotation by email, and our team is always happy to discuss your requirements by phone. Registered users can view their bookings, manage their account, and make repeat reservations with ease.

Book Main Hall & Conservatory

Main Hall & Conservatory

Capacity: 180 people
Pricing: £20.00-£30.00 per hour
Location: High Street, Church Stretton, SY6 6BY

The Main Auditorium (with stage) can seat 140 people plus the adjoining Conservatory seating 40 with adjoining kitchen. The Conservatory can hold 40 people if booked on it’s own, or if you would like to book the Main Hall, the Conservatory and Kitchen are added to the booking for free. 

We have a Projector and Screen available for hire as well.

There is adequate access for disabled people, and a hearing loop is available.

The Hirer must pay a surety booking deposit of £100.00 to the Town Council to secure the booking. Deposits will be refunded approximately fourteen days after the function providing that in the Town Council’s opinion, no money should be retained to cover damage to the Hall, kitchen, fixtures, fittings or furniture, or special cleaning to the building, following a hiring.

Conservatory

Capacity: 40 people
Pricing: £10.00-£18.00 per hour

A long room adjoining the main auditorium, with foldaway doors to separate the room off if required. Direct access to the kitchen, and doors open to a small area outside.

Committee Room One is located on the Ground Floor of the SHI and is perfect for small meetings, comfortably hosting 20 people.

Council Chamber

Capacity: 18 people

The Council Chamber is on the 1st Floor via a narrow staircase and has a large board meeting table, suitable for meetings of 12-14 people around the table.

Russell's Meadow

Capacity: 10000 people

Russell’s Meadow Field is a large flat field with vehicle access off Lutwyche Road. It contains both the Cricket and Football pitches.

Richard Robinson Field incorporates the Brookbury Play Area and is border by the stream between the 2 fields, with a pedestrian bridge. Vehicle access is off Churchill Road.

Book Russell's Meadow Pavillion

Russell's Meadow Pavillion

Capacity: 50 people
Pricing: Variable pricing

The pavilion has a common room with tables and chairs, a kitchen with serving hatch onto the playing field and two changing rooms, two referee rooms, and storage area for sporting equipment and is used by other community groups such as the Youth Club.

Book Rectory Field

Rectory Field

Capacity: 5000 people

The field is available for events and the Wood hosts various different walks throughout the year and can be booked by interested parties.

There is a carpark at the top of the hill accessible via Cunnery Road, or at the bottom of the woods by St Laurence’s Church. There is also a walking route from the National Trust Car Park at Carding Mill Valley, to Rectory Woods.

Book The Town Square

The Town Square

Capacity: 1000 people

Our beautiful Town Square can also be hired out for Events, Car Displays, Maypole Dancing and Markets.

Every Thursday from 6am – 2pm the Town’s Charter Market is held, and at Christmas it is used for the Town’s Big Light Switch On, as well as Carols in the Square.

The Bowls pavilion faces on to the crown green where, in the summer months you can sit on the park benches and enjoy the game or if interested come along and play (Men & Ladies welcome).
